Last year’s SAFETY4SEA Crew Wellness survey revealed that industry’s awareness and efforts towards crew welfare have started to bring results while issues like connectivity, onboard socializing etc improving. However, currently due to the pandemic, seafarers are facing new challenges which make shipboard life not so attractive as it used to be.

What are the biggest challenges that seafarers face on board before and during the pandemic?

What should be our priorities for the post pandemic industry with respect to crew welfare?

What are the issues we should be working towards with to provide for a better life onboard?

How could we motivate the new generation to seek a career in shipping?

Professional qualification, soft and hard skills are important when a new candidate applies for a job. However, if all these do not match the industry needs it would be dream not becoming reality. We need to focus more on developing skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership and other soft skills to assist new entrants, so how can we cultivate a new mindset?

What are the future skills required for the next shipping generation?

What are the essential skills and attitude to move industry forward?

What should be the new training methods?
