The purpose of subject newsletter is to inform all interested parties about Marine Notice 242.2 issued by Palau International Ship Registry (PISR) regarding the authorized service providers for maintenance, thorough examination, operational testing, overhaul and repair of lifeboats and rescue boats, launching appliances and release gear.
More specifically, MN242.2 provides the requirements to apply for the Palau Ship Registry Administrator’s authorization to be an authorized service provider in accordance with Resolution 402(96) (available here).
This Marine Notice applies to all Palau registered vessels, their managing companies and authorized service providers.
The adoption of Resolution will take into effect on January 1st 2020 and revokes Annex 1 to MSC.1/Circ. 1206/Rev.1 and as well as the IMO Guidelines content in the MSC.1/Circ.1578 “Guidelines on the Safety during Abandon Ship Drills using Lifeboats” which supersedes the Annex 2 to MSC.1/Circ.1206/Rev.1. Therefore, once the Resolution MSC.402(96) comes into effect, the Interim recommendations on conditions for authorization of service providers for lifeboats, launching appliances and on-load release gear which is found in MSC.1/Circ.1277, is no longer considered to be in use.
